Terms of use
The short version.
Last updated: 2 June 2026
1. What this is
TownInsider is a per-town AI holiday companion. You scan a QR code at your accommodation, answer a few quick questions about your stay, and chat with the town's guide — an AI persona who knows the place — about anything you'd ask a knowledgeable local: where to eat, what's worth seeing, tide times, the weather, a walk for the dog.
These terms cover your use of the TownInsider app (app.towninsider.co.uk) and this website (towninsider.co.uk). By signing up and chatting with a guide, you're agreeing to them.
2. Your account and your conversations
When you sign up, we collect:
- Your email address, so we can sign you in.
- The details you give your guide during onboarding — your dates, who's with you, whether there's a dog, any dietary requirements.
- The conversations you have with your guide.
We store these to make the personalised recommendations work and so your week's story is waiting on your next visit. Your profile details and conversations are encrypted at rest.
For the full picture of what we collect, why, and how long we keep it, see our privacy notice.
3. The guide is an AI
Your guide is powered by an AI model. AI gets things wrong sometimes — opening hours, prices, details about a place that have changed since the catalogue was last updated, even confident statements that turn out to be inaccurate. Treat the recommendations as a knowledgeable starting point, not the final word.
If something matters — a booking, accessibility, opening on a specific date, a special occasion — always confirm with the venue directly before relying on what the guide said.
4. Allergies, dietary needs, and your safety
TownInsider is not a medical or dietary advisor. If you tell us about allergies or dietary requirements during onboarding, your guide does her best to filter food recommendations around them — but please treat that as a helping hand, not a guarantee.
You remain responsible for confirming your dietary needs directly with venues before ordering, eating, or visiting. Menus change, kitchens change, ingredients change. The information we hold about any venue may be out of date.
If you have a severe allergy, coeliac disease, or any medical condition where a mistake could harm you, always call ahead and speak to the venue yourself before relying on a recommendation. Don't take chances on the basis of a chat message.
5. Service availability
The product is provided as-is. We make no warranty that it will be available without interruption, that the catalogue we draw from will always be current, or that every recommendation will land. We'll keep the lights on as best we can; if something breaks, we'll fix it.
To the extent permitted by law, TownInsider (Autaimate) is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the product or this website. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights under UK law, or our liability for anything the law doesn't allow us to limit (such as personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud).
6. Acceptable use
Don't try to break the service. Don't sign up multiple people without their consent. Don't use any part of TownInsider to harm anyone, including by reverse-engineering it for a competing service or scraping content for republication. Don't try to extract or jailbreak the guide's underlying model. These would be obvious breaches; this list isn't exhaustive.
We can suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
7. Intellectual property
Site content, app design, copy, imagery, the curated catalogue, and the persona voices (Morwenna in Padstow, and any others) are owned by Autaimate. You're welcome to link to any page on this site. Reproduction of substantial content elsewhere requires written permission — get in touch and we'll probably say yes.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting your account or how we handle your data will be communicated by email.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
